Political Change

Forests of the World Works to Make Nature and Forests a Political Priority

Our consumption patterns and the pursuit of quick profits make it attractive to exploit various types of nature, including forests. In countries where poverty is widespread, there is often an increased incentive to clear forests for immediate economic gain.

However, forests are the most important terrestrial ecosystem, as they contain by far the richest biodiversity. Preserving and protecting forests—both tropical forests and forests in Denmark—is essential for life on Earth.

That is why we work to ensure that politicians at all levels take responsibility and pass ambitious laws and regulations to protect nature. However, passing laws is not enough. The implementation and enforcement of these laws are crucial to achieving the necessary impact when put into practice.

Deforestation is a Political Issue
It is people who clear the forests, and it is also up to us to organize ourselves to stop this. Therefore, politicians, organizations, businesses, and populations in all countries have a responsibility—no one is exempt. Deforestation often occurs to cultivate raw materials like palm oil, soy, and beef, which end up in our daily consumption. Therefore, it is necessary that we work to change the structures and incentives that promote the exploitation of nature.
