Forests of the World Appoints Two Secretary-Generals in a Shared Leadership Role as Part of a Strategic Organizational Change

PRESS RELEASE: The Board of Forests of the World has appointed two Secretary-Generals in a shared leadership role. This decision is part of a strategic organizational change aimed at strengthening Forests of the World’s engagement with strategic partners, both nationally and internationally. Nanna Jochumsen and Jakob Kronik have been named as the new Co-Secretary-Generals.

Nanna Jochumsen and Jakob Kronik have been named as the new Co-Secretary-Generals of Forests of the World. Both leaders come from positions within the organization.

Chairperson of the Board, Anders Morten Christoffersen, states:

“We have taken significant steps as a professional organization in recent years, and we must continue to strengthen this development. Jakob and Nanna have the skills to elevate Forests of the World to a level where we become an even stronger strategic partner for businesses, donors, and other stakeholders, both nationally and internationally.”

Nanna Jochumsen previously served as Head of Communications and Fundraising, while Jakob Kronik was Head of the International Department. Both leaders will continue to oversee functions within their respective areas. Jakob Kronik and Nanna Jochumsen will hold the titles of Co-Secretary-General & Global Director and Co-Secretary-General & Engagement Director, respectively.

With the appointment of the leadership duo, the organization will prioritize optimizing its resources in Denmark while also focusing on its work in Latin America and East Africa, where Forests of the World is active.

“Forests of the World’s leadership will strengthen capacity in the countries where we are actively present, as well as in our international offices. At the same time, we will streamline workflows and bring decision-making closer to the professional staff. This will ensure the organization’s continued success and ability to play a central role in preserving the world’s biodiversity hotspots,” says Jakob Kronik, who has years of experience working with institutions such as the World Bank on indigenous peoples’ rights and forest conservation.

“We will focus on leveraging the momentum that biodiversity and the fight against deforestation have gained on both global and national levels. Forests of the World cannot solve these issues alone. We are entirely dependent on partners such as businesses, policymakers, supporters, the media, donors, and other stakeholders. With these organizational changes, we welcome partners to increase collaboration so that we can tackle these challenges together,” says Nanna Jochumsen, who, in addition to her work at Forests of the World, has experience in engagement and leadership from several other Danish NGOs.
